Performance
Performance-wise, BISSELL Big Green leads the pack. It features a 12 amps (~1440 Watts) motor that imparts mammoth suction to extract deeply ingrained stains and filth out of carpets, rugs, and upholstery. The machine cleans two ways – forward and backward. The 8-row XL DirtLifter PowerBrush works efficiently. There’s a hand tool (6-inch tough stain tool) available with the Big Green, apt for cleaning spot stains and small areas like stairs, pet beds, hallways, etc.
Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3 is also driven by the same capacity motor. The suction is powerful, but not as impactful as witnessed in the Big Green. Mighty Pro X3 cleans only when you pull it backward. The Triple Action vibrating brush rigorously agitates stains. Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI) has awarded a Gold rating to the Mighty Pro X3 for effective soil removal, water removal, and gentleness on the carpet. Surprisingly, you don’t get any attachments with this machine. This is certainly disappointing because you pay so much but still don’t get the hand tool and the hose.
Rug Doctor Pro Deep is way better than the Mighty Pro X3. Driven by the same motor, it cleans both ways – forward and backward. The performance is praiseworthy, comparable to the commercial-grade carpet cleaners. CRI has awarded a Platinum rating to Pro Deep, the highest in the segment. The rolling/rotating brushes work flawlessly to remove the toughest stains with ease. Here also you don’t get any tools or attachments like a hose.
My Verdict: BISSELL Big Green is the winner.
Ease of Use
BISSELL Big Green is easy to use, despite being heavy and bulky. Both tanks are removable, thereby making it easy to refill, empty, and rinse. The spinner on the machine tells you when it’s time to refill the clean water tank. Attaching the hose and the solution tube is also easy. The 25-feet cord and 9-feet hose ensure you reach out to far corners.
Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3 is also easy to use, but not as much as using the Big Green. The clean water tank is non-removable, for example. Fastening the hose and the solution tube is a little hassle. The cord length is limited to 22 feet and the hose is not available unless you buy it or already have one.
When it comes to ease of use, Rug Doctor Pro Deep is neck and neck with the Big Green. You get removable tanks here, but attaching the hose and the solution tube is a bit tough. The good thing is the machine alerts you (light indicators) when the dirty water tank needs to be emptied or the brush roll is jammed. The cord is 22 feet long and there’s no hose.
My Verdict: Again, Big Green wins for its hose attachment. Pro Deep loses by a slight margin due to no hose availability.
Ease of Maintenance
BISSELL Big Green is a low-maintenance appliance. There’s nothing much to worry about since you get a 5-year warranty. Tanks are fairly large (1.75 gallons each) and easily removable. Cleaning the nozzle and the brush is somewhat hard, but then you don’t need to do it frequently.
In Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3, you get the largest capacity tanks. Hence, you can clean for a longer duration without worrying about refilling and emptying. Again, cleaning the nozzle and the brush is a hassle. Moreover, you only get a 1-year warranty on the Mighty Pro X3, considerably lesser than what you get with the Big Green.
Rug Doctor Pro Deep also comes with a 1-year warranty. The machine tells you when to clean the brush roll and the tanks. The tank capacity is the lowest in the segment (1.5 gallons each). Removable tanks make it easier to clean them effectively. Again, cleaning the brush roll is a hassle, just as it is with the Mighty Pro X3.
